Sacramento's Best Pizza Parlors

Did you know that pizza originated centuries ago as flatbread?

It was enjoyed by the poor as a tasty, inexpensive meal.

The pizza we know dates back to late 18th-century Naples, and today, the average American eats 46 slices every year.

If you would like to meet friends for pizza, visit one of these restaurants within a short drive from our apartments near Sac State:

OneSpeed is a neighborhood pizzeria that focuses on local ingredients, and simple, time-tested cooking. Chef Rick Mahan believes that a meal is about the moment and who it is shared with. He started working at a family restaurant at sixteen and became passionate about spending time in the kitchen. OneSpeed boasts a four-star rating on Yelp and has earned recognition from Pizza Today and the Sacramento News & Review. Pizzas include Margherita, Napoletana, and New Jersey Tomato Pie.

When three friends decided to serve artisan pizza in a nightlife setting, Pizza Rock was born. The restaurant is where locals unwind, and its unique DJ booth is housed in a Peterbilt truck cab. Hours are extended to 3:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and Sundays bring an acoustic brunch from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The classic American pizzas include Big Kahuna, Old Smokey, and River City Ranch.

Chicago Fire brings the fun of an authentic Chicago deep dish restaurant to Sacramento. It's designed to make every dining occasion a party and comes complete with an old school atmosphere. The owner created his own recipes and wants his guests to enjoy a leisurely meal. The pizza is made to order, and choices include Stockyard, The New Greek, and The "Abe Froman."
